Preps: LWHS outslugs Youngker
BUCKEYE – Lee Williams scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to break a 9-9 tie and held on for a 14-11 win over homestanding Youngker in high school baseball action on Monday, March 21.
Lee Williams sophomore Nick Kennedy filled the stat sheet, going 3-for-5 with a double and two singles good for five RBIs. He also scored a run.
Senior Ethan Klenke, freshman Barrett Bowman, and sophomores Dylan Towning and Noah Petrauschke had two hits apiece. Bowman had a double and a single, drove in two runs and scored twice.
The Volunteers benefited from six Youngker fielding errors, and Bowman picked up the pitching win, striking out 10 batters in five innings while yielding five earned runs.

KINGMAN – Kingman dropped a doubleheader to visiting Wickenburg on Saturday, March 19, losing 12-2 in five innings in the opener and 5-4 in the nightcap.
Kingman had five hits in the opener, including a double and single by sophomore Keygun Field, who stole a base and scored one of Kingman’s two runs. Seniors Lino Barela and Camaron Haller, and sophomore Gavin Nelson, also hit safely. The Bulldogs scored two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to nearly rally to a win in the nightcap before losing 5-4 in seven innings.
Barela led Kingman at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and scoring twice. He also stole two bases.
The Bulldogs also got base hits from junior Bricen Galindo, sophomore Nick Hebrun, freshman Izsik Malone and Haller.
Bulldog pitcher William Winker gave up just five hits and two earned runs while striking out nine in six innings of work.
