Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle on Andy Devine Avenue

KINGMAN – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Andy Devine Avenue in Kingman on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

According to a Kingman Police Department news release, traffic was diverted on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 22 near Bashas grocery store after a 40-year-old man identified as Nathaniel Ruger Phillips of Kingman was killed while crossing the roadway.

According to law enforcement, the pedestrian was hit by a blue Jeep Patriot driven by a 19-year-old man.

Police officers and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, however, Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation revealed that Phillips had been crossing the road in a poorly lit area when he was struck.

The investigation is ongoing, however, investigators do not believe excessive speed to be a factor in the crash.

This was the second crash in the past month where a pedestrian has been killed while crossing the road. On Oct. 26, a 44-year-old Kingman man was killed while crossing the road in the 300 block of E. Andy Devine Avenue in a poorly lit, undesignated crossing area.
