Kingman man arrested, faces arson charge

KINGMAN — Kingman Police Department arrested Mark Phillip Schey, 63, of Kingman, on a felony charge of arson of an occupied structure.

Officers responded to the report of a residential fire in the 3900 block of Lindsey Avenue on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed the home to be burning with heavy smoke, according to a KPD news release.

Officers observed a male subject walking in and out of the residence. According to law enforcement, Schey allegedly told officers that he had intentionally started the fire. Another occupant of the home was able to exit without injury.

Schey was arrested and booked into the Mohave County jail.

The investigation is ongoing in cooperation with arson investigators of the Kingman Fire Department.
