Preps: Vols top Bulldog boys

KINGMAN – The Lee Williams High School boys basketball team beat cross-town rival Kingman 64-57 on Thursday, Jan. 26 in a non-conference contest. No statistics were available.

Kingman led most of the first half, but Lee Williams stormed back after the break to claim the win.

The Volunteers improved their season record to 5-7. Kingman fell to 8-7.

Boys basketball

Prescott 73, Lee Williams 49

KINGMAN – Visting Prescott handed Lee Williams High School at 73-49 loss in a high school boys basketball game played Friday, Jan. 27 in Kingman.

Lee Williams is now 5-8 for the year. Prescott, which is ranked sixth in the state in Class 4A, improved to 13-2 overall and 12-2 in the 4A Grand Canyon Conference.

ALA West Foothills 81, Kingman 56

WADDELL – ALA West Foothills beat visiting Kingman 81-56 in a boys high school basketball game played on Friday, Jan. 27.

Dayton Foster scored a game-high 32 points to spark the Guardians, who improved to 7-6 on the season. Kingman slipped to 8-8.

Arizona Lutheran 75, Kingman Academy 35

PHOENIX – Arizona Lutheran dominated Kingman Academy to win 75-35 in a high school boys basketball game played in Phoenix on Friday, Jan. 27.

Academy fell to 8-13 overall with the loss. Arizona Lutheran improved to 16-6.

Girls Soccer

Lee Williams 2, Prescott 1

PRESCOTT – The beat goes on for the Lee Williams High School girls soccer team, which remained undefeated at 9-0 with a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Prescott at Prescott on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Lee Williams is ranked second in the state in Class 4A as the playoffs approach, and they lead the 4A Grand Canyon Conference with an 8-0 record.

Prescott fell to 7-1 and is ranked sixth in the state in Class 4A.

Girls Basketball

Kingman 44, ALA West Foothills 40

PHOENIX – The Kingman High School girls basketball team edged homestanding ALA West Foothills in high school girls basketball action on Friday, Jan. 27.

Kingman, ranked 27th in the state in Class 3A, improved to 9-5 overall with the win. ALA West Foothills in now 5-9.

Arizona Luthern 46, Kingman Academy 13

WADDELL – The Arizona Lutheran High School girls basketball team held Kingman Academy to just 13 points to notch a 46-13 win on Friday, Jan. 27.

Kingman Academy, which had won seven straight games and is ranked 16th in the state in Class 2A, fell to 10-6 on the year. Arizona Lutheran, ranked 13th in the state, improved to 11-3 overall.
