At least one car driver was seriously injured about 9 a.m. Friday in an accident at the intersection of I-40 and Beale Street. Kingman Police Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper said a westbound semitrailer was exiting on the I-40 off-ramp when its brakes failed, according to the truck driver. Cooper said the semi crossed Beale Street and struck a car that was traveling west on Beale Street, seriously injuring the driver. Beale Street was shut down for about two hours, said Cooper, and traffic on U.S. 93 and I-40 was backed up for miles. Police are still investigating the accident.
